Common Tech Support Issues
for TradeStation 8 and 2000i

TradeStation assigned me a new (and different) customer number.
My copy of Jurik's installer does not have an option for installing to Tradestation 8.
Jurik Tools do not verify in TradeStation 8.
Jurik Tools verify in TradeStation 8, but are not working.
My custom 2000i studies that use Jurik tools do not work in TradeStation 8.
I want Jurik tools running on 2000i and TradeStation 8 on the same computer.
Why do some of the free tools for download not verify?









































Running TradeStation 2000i and
TradeStation 8 on the same computer.

If your Jurik Tools installer ( JRSACT_2.EXE or JRS_TS.EXE ) is recent enough to show TradeStation 8 as a selectable option, go to step 2, otherwise start with step 1.

  1. The first step is to acquire our latest version of Jurik Tools for TradeStation. For the latest version, go HERE.

  2. If your TradeStation Customer Number for 2000i is NOT the same as for version 8, you will need a different password from us for installing Jurik Tools to that version of TradeStation for which you have not yet received a password. To do so, follow the instructions provided in the box below, otherwise jump to step 3.


    • Contact TradeStation Support by email. Show your new and old customer numbers and request that they reply to confirm that both are yours.

    • Forward their reply (hopefully it will include your original message) to our Support Department at nfs@nfsmith.net. In it, mention you are requesting a 2nd installation password. Include ALL this information:

      • your FULL name
      • your new AND old TradeStation Customer Numbers.
      • a list of the Jurik tools you have licence to use (e.g. JMA, RSX, ...)

    • If TradeStation's reply was a positive confirmation ...

      ... we will deliver a new password immediately if your most recent purchase of Jurik Tools for TradeStation was less than 2 years ago. If your most recent purchase was more than 2 year ago, delivery will occur after we receive a $20 "password service fee". To make payment, please use our shopping cart and select the "Upgrade/Replace" Department.

    • If TradeStation's reply was to decline your request for security reasons (it might happen), contact us at 323-258-4860 one day after forwarding to us their reply.

    • Wait until you receive a new password from us before proceeding to Step 2.

  3. If you have not yet installed Jurik tools for TradeStation 2000i, do the following:

    • Run the most recent Jurik installer you have and select to install for TradeStation 2000i
    • Use the password we provided for installing to 2000i
    • Afterwards, move the file JRS_AUX32.DLL from your system32 folder (either in WINNT/system32/ or WINDOWS/system32) to the PROGRAM folder where TradeStation 2000i is installed. (If you do not know where the 2000i program folder is located, search for the file OREDIT32.EXE.)
    • Import Jurik's ELS files into TradeStation 2000i and run "VERIFY ALL".

  4. If you have not yet installed Jurik tools for TradeStation 8, do the following:

    • Run the most recent Jurik installer you have and select to install for TradeStation 8
    • Use the password we provided for installing to TradeStation 8.
    • Import Jurik's ELS files into TradeStation 8 and run "VERIFY ALL".










































































Jurik Tools Do Not Verify
in TradeStation 8

If you ran our installer correctly, imported Jurik Tools from our ELS files and verification failed, we are 100% certain (from lots of experience with TradeStation users) that TradeStation has one or more corrupt files. This usually occurs when the user's hard drive is seriously fragmented or there are other file structure problems. The following procedure will take 1-2 hours, but is 99% effective in curing this problem:

  1. Open TradeStation. In the command menu, select File/Open_EasyLanguage. Select Analysis Type "ALL". Scroll down and delete all studies that begin with "JRC". "JRC" is short for "Jurik Research Consulting". All Studies you created that use the Jurik Tools will not verify. That's OK for now. Close TradeStation.

  2. Press Window's START button, select "Run..." Type the word COMMAND. When Command window appears, use CHKDSK to verify all your hard drive partitions. CHKDSK only one partition at a time and reboot between CHKDSK sessions.

    To CHKDSK the C: drive, enter ... chkdsk C: /f
    To CHKDSK the E: drive, enter ... chkdsk E: /f

  3. After completing all CHKDSK sessions, defrag all partitions on your hard drive. To use Window's built-in defragger, press Window's START button, select Programs/Accessories/System_Tools/Defragment_Disk.

  4. Download and install the latest version of TradeStation 8.

  5. If you did install a new version of TradeStation, defrag all partitions again.

  6. Open TradeStation. In the command menu, select File/Open_EasyLanguage. Open any study. In the command menu, select View/EasyLanguage_PowerEditor_Preferences. Press "Verify All" button.

  7. Import into TradeStation all Jurik Tool ELS files. Afterwards, run "Verify All" again.

This should have solved the problem. If not, your hard drive may have serious issues, such as an overloaded and fragmented MTF in one or more partitions. This is beyond the scope of our support.





































































Jurik tools verify in TradeStation 8,
but are not working.

CAUSE #1

One reason may be that the customer number (CN) you entered into our installer was incorrect. Please verify your CN and re-run the Jurik Tools installer. To see your CN, open TradeStation 8 and pull down the menu command HELP/ABOUT. The dialog box will show your customer number.

CAUSE #2

Another reason is that, under rare occasions, the Jurik Tools installer may have misplaced a file. Verify the file "JRS_AUX32.DLL" is in the SYSTEM32 folder of your computer operating system (either in WINNT/system32 or WINDOWS/system32). If the DLL file is not there, find it using START/FIND_FILE and move it to your system32 folder.

If the problem has not been resolved, contact Product Support.










































































Your custom 2000i studies that use Jurik tools
do not work in TradeStation 8

This is for the situation that the basic Jurik Tools run in TradeStation 8, but your studies imported from 2000i that use Jurik Tools do not work.

Importing studies from 2000i that use Jurik functions will not only import your studies, but also import the Jurik functions that were in 2000i as well. This will overwrite the functions that we specifically created for TradeStation 8. To fix the problem, you need to re-import all the ELS files that were created when you ran the Jurik Tools installer for TradeStation 8.

Why do some of the free tools
for download not verify?

The FREE TOOLS on our site require one or more specific Jurik Tools to be already installed for TradeStation. For example, the free "Double RSX" indicator requires the basic RSX function be already installed.
